Hello, my name is Poppy. I’m 21 years old and currently studying Journalism in the beautiful city of York. I’m from Northumberland and I love to read, write and watch films. I drink a lot of black coffee and my love for Journalism came from collecting Vogue magazines.

I plan to build a career either in magazine production or publishing (specifically books publishing). Alongside my degree I volunteer in the Blue House Bookshop in York one day a week to help pursue my everlasting love for books.

I have developed a range of skills during my time at university. From using Adobe software to create a magazine, a podcast and video packages for TV to learning how to use a Canon XA65, Canon 77D and Zoom and Rode audio equipment for filming. I have produced media content in different formats depending on if it’s for social media, online News outlets, TV, radio or magazine. I have studied media law and attended Court hearings to practice reporting.

I have developed my skills for interviewing and doing vox pops as well as working as a team to create content in a newsroom setting causing me to also improve my problem-solving skills.
